HORSE BACK TREKKING TO THE HEART OF ALTAI - MT.BELUKHA


ITINERARY

Day 1. Arrival to Barnaul from Novosibirsk via Moscow/Khabarovsk. Transfer to the hotel "Tzentralnaya". Check-in. Welcome dinner with "Wild Russia" guides.
Day 2. Coach transfer to the Seminskiy Pass Lodge by highway (6 hours). Stopovers at "Arzhan-Su", a holy spring, and in Gorno-Altaisk, where we have lunch. Overnight in the lodge.
Day 3. Continue drive to Tyungur village (4 hours). On the way visiting a museum of petroglyphs in Mendur-Sokon village and Scythian barrows. Overnight in the lodge "Vysotnik" in Tyungur.
Day 4. Acquaintance with horses and wranglers. Horse back trek begins along the Akkem river gorge till Tekkelyu camp site (17 km). Overnight in tents.
Day 5. Continue to the lake Akkem (11 km). Overnight in tents at the lake. Experiencing Altaian Sauna.
Day 6. Hike to the Yarla Rocks and to the Belukha Glacier. Second night at the lake.
Day 7. Trek down the valley and turn to the left toward Kara-Tyurek Pass (3050 m). Overcrossing the pass and camping at the Kucherla river.
Day 8. Hike to the Kucherla Lake and return down the Kucherla gorge to the river Kuilyu junction. Overnight in tents.
Day 9. Return down the gorge to Tyungur. Overnight in the lodge "Vysotnik".
Day 10. Coach transfer to the Denisov's Cave (a site of ancient people 500 000 years ago) at the village Chernyi Anui. Overnight in a wooden lodge.
Day 11. Return back to Barnaul. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 12. Day of departure.

LAND COST: $1240.00 per person.

It includes: all the meals, accommodations, transport, horse rent, wranglers and guides services, interpreter, tents en route, camping and kitchen stuff.

GETTING THERE:

There is a regular bus connection to Barnaul from Novosibirsk. During the summer season bus leaves Novosibirsk every hour from 8 a.m. The last bus leaves 3 p.m.
Also there are several scheduled trains daily and local flights from Novosibirsk, Moscow, Khabarovsk and St.Petersburg. Please, contact us for definite dates and times.

Novosibirsk has lots of flights from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk and other Russian cities. Also there are international flights to Novosibirsk from Frankfurt and Bangkok.

One can reach Novosibirsk by transsiberian train via Moscow or Beijing. This exciting opportunity would become a great combination to explore Russian Siberia not just siiting in a train cabine.

CLIMATE: +15 +25 C, continental climate, occasional rains up the valleys.

SEASONS: from July to September. The best time to visit is July -August.

BASIC PERSONAL GEAR: personal trekking gear, waterproof gear, mosquito protection, favorite food staff, sleeping bag, carrymate, leather boots.

GRADE: moderate.

STAFF: horses with Russian cavalry saddles, 2 wranglers, luggage horses, trek leader, kitchen crew, interpreter.

RECOMMENDATIONS: no special riding skills are required, medical injection against enciphalitum is strictly recommended.
